I Used To Be | A Short Illustrated Comic
The idea to make a short comic came to be on an art club meeting, myself and a previous collaborator on the Our House project showed a great Skillshare course and we decided to do a comic each.
To decide what to do it about we got chatting and eventually came up with the idea of narrating lockdown from the perspective of an item we used a lot over the time of being at home (part inspired by this Its Nice That article).
I chose my favourite blue pencil to show not only how the time has let to me drawing more (as it was one of my only 'outs'), but how it kind of wore me down as a person for a while so I can only imagine my pencil feeling the same way (assuming sentients)!
Below is where I planned out the individual panels before making my way onto Procreate to experiment on make the above final. Having this space to experiment was really useful, something I'm sure you've seen with other projects if you've been on any of my other pages.
